I'm in a beer funk - Trub Lou - 09-24-2020

I think I finally wore out on IPAs.  And sours aren't far behind.  I want to go back to looking forward to a specific beer after a long day, but other than my oldest standby of Guinness draft, I'm coming up empty.

Whatcha drinking?  When I'm not in a beer place, a lot of times either a martini, captain and coke, or a bloody Mary will tide me over to whisky hour, but nothing's sounding delicious.

Scottish and brown ales have been my go to lately.

I've noticed lately when I drink a few Confluence IPAs I get SUPER dried out. My eyes feel like they got dust in them the next day. I'm gonna have to just stick with the Four Roses Bourbon I guess. A few weeks back I had some Oktoberfest.

Oh yea. Love me a good marzen beer.

Alts are a great go-to, though you can't find good ones here. I always get pumped when octoberfests come out though.

Belgian Tripels are my go to but I've been brewing those IPA's that you're bored with. I am actually new to the fruity, tropical IPA's. I'm really enjoying playing with these crazy new hops. I've bought 12-15 pounds of them in the last month.

The finest beer I ever brewed was a St Fueillien tripel clone, I think I got the recipe from Austin Homebrew.
9.6%, nice and clear with a beautiful straw color, a little citrus finish.. I don't think I've ever had a real St Fueillien but I know my friends and I wouldn't have liked theirs anywhere near as well as mine!

Do you still have the recipe?  I found a bunch of recipes from AHB when I unearthed my brewing equipment.

I'll see if I can find it, haven't brewed in years so not sure where it might be but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have tossed that one.
