Lawd help me, I may be going to the dark side

With the sunsetting of Gear VR, and all my kids being in the Apple ecosystem for their iPons, it may just be time to bite the bullet and switch to iPhone.

Only problem is that Verizon doesn't seem to have shit for bundled discounts right now.  Normally, if I look around a bit, I can find hardware for half price and not have to mess with "upgrading" to whatever the new silly trending plan is. I'm fine with my 8gb a month that supports tethering and I don't want to rock that boat and get committed to more monthly charges for crap I won't use.

So, I don't know.... Are the "budget" carriers like T-Mobile and Republic and such any good? I feel like I looked at Visible a couple of years ago and they couldn't figure out how to onboard new users without making it a complete headache.  I'd be happy to stick with Verizon if I could hold onto the data plan I've got and find two phones for less that 500 apiece or so, but the only way they get close is if I sign on to 'unlimited' for another $50 a month and trade in an old device (no thanks!) or other nonsense.

I don't think I've ever used an Apple product...

T-Mobile was bought out by Sprint. I have them and I can get reception where Verizon can't. I'm sure the opposite holds true for some areas.

My plan is $80/mo unlimited everything except hotspot. I think they have a new $85 plan that will give you 25gb of hotspot.

Switch to another carrier and get free iPhones and a better rate.

I own both apple and Verizon stock, but have a Google phone and TMobile service.

Why?

Because kids are hooked on iPhones and most folks think Verizon is responsible for the sun rising.

Win Win!

I buy iPhones, then do pay as you go thru TMobile. 4 phones for $109 monthly. 10gb per phone.
