It gets ice build-up to the point that the noise from the internal fan gets unbearable until it's completely thawed out. The ice maker has always been slow and does a shit job of dispensing, and now it's actually frozen up completely. I just spent a half an hour with a spray bottle of hot water trying to unjam an ice pack that had formed between it and the wall of the fridge. I'm done. An overpriced piece of garbage - would have been better off with a Frigidaire.
Anyhoo, assuming I don't want any froo-froo designer type stuff (I'm not spending $5K on a refrigerator unless it can also vacuum and give massages), what's a good large-capacity kitchen fridge? I really like the bottom-mount freezer design, and the one thing that's been nice with this Samsung is the dual doors and a deli drawer, but I'd give those up for something that was going to be completely trouble free, I think.
Interesting... my Samsung just started having this problem about 3-6 months ago. I have to scrape the bottom of the ice maker (removing the ice cube tray) and the side wall of the ice maker due to build up. Dispensing has been very slow and cubes often come out crushed. I don't think warm water is sufficient. I just took a good strong SS knife and stab/scrape for a minute to dislodge the build up.
