Cost and hard work will be rewarded in the long term!!! Will you be able to walk under and store things under there? Maybe string up a couple hammocks, get the smoker under there, party deck?!

Solar update. After much grief, I finally got "permission " from my electric cooperative to turn on my system.
Almost a year of back and forth.

I could have reduced the time if I had just shut them off and went cold turkey on the grid.
The system I've built on paper should cover on average 350 days every year. To cover those bad weather outliers would be a lot more batteries.
Now could I keep one of my many generators ready for that? Sure, but having grid is easier and quieter.

The big hang up they had?
$
If I don't buy enough kwhr they don't make $.

In the end they ran into the fact that I've followed every single rule and code. So no grounds to stop me and gave in.

They "are going to monitor my usage for a few months and reevaluate their position"

Fine, it gives me data and let's me know what I need to tweak more precisely to ditch them entirely.

My brother just built his home and had solar installed. Not the battery solar, but the kind that plugs into the grid or whatever. Last month his power bill was like negative 60 bucks or something. He not moved in yet so I doubt that will last once he starts using more juice.

But still a negative bill despite running the AC and pool in the 105 degree Texas heat is impressive.
