I don't mind that ritual as part of the show, but agree that it's kind of silly when it's baked into the planning of the set.

Took the kid to Shreveport for Whiskey Meyers concert and they hadn't played three of their biggest songs, didn't turn the lights on. FFS just play the set enough with the theatrics

Concerts be expensive, all set lists are posted shortly after every concert. Few surprises nowdays.
